Take Your Places

“Take Your Places” is what we say before a show. It is also where your child will find their place.

About the program:

Take Your Places is a community-based program providing a well-rounded theater education, accessible to all students. The kids will have a blast developing both performance and backstage skills that will prepare them to progress through Port’s many theater opportunities. More importantly, they will develop confidence, experience joy, explore creativity, learn to collaborate, engage in teamwork, practice leadership, and so much more.

Unique to our program, the year will begin with instruction, focusing on the fundamentals of musical theater performing, acting/singing/dance technique, improv & storytelling, as well as backstage skills such as set design, lighting, costumes, props, and hands-on production experiences.

The second half of the year will focus on rehearsing for our showcase, a full-scale musical production that will be performed in May.

Our mission with this program doesn’t stop with our kids. We look forward to working with parent volunteers to come together in community and help us put on our final showcase (painting sets, gathering props, etc). This is optional of course, but we do hope you will find your place here too.
