About

Join us for our annual Harry Chapin birthday tribute!

The 3nd annual “Just Wild About Harry” tribute concert honors the late Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and social activist Harry Chapin, who would have turned 82 on December 7.

We’ll feature Long Island’s top musicians and songwriters, all donating their time and all performing Chapin classics including Taxi and Cat’s in the Cradle, plus many other hits and fan favorites like WOLD and Story of a Life.

This year’s roster includes concert organizer Stuart Markus and many more to be added!

“For 20 years, the Long Island music community has come together to commemorate Harry by playing his songs around the anniversary of his tragic passing,” Markus says. “This show celebrates his life with a birthday bash.” Like in past shows, participating artists will be encouraged to put their own interpretations on his songs. “We’ve had some amazing arrangements, from folky to country, from torch-song style to hard rock,” Markus adds.

$20 gets you in the door, but we encourage you to please give more.

All profits will be donated to Long Island Cares, the food bank founded by Chapin.

Long Island Cares will also be collecting non-perishable food donations at the concert.

Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank has been on a mission to feed Long Island’s food insecure and stamp out the root causes of hunger since our founding by the late Harry Chapin in 1980.
