Afternoon TEA is funded by the New York State Council on the Arts | October 11, 2023 at 2pm

About

Vincent Roccaro performs songs that were made famous by some of the earliest artists in rock and roll.

Vincent Roccaro has performed as a musician and vocalist since the tender age of 13.

Raised on a diet of the great standards from the 30’s and 40’s, his first musical venture was predictably the newest and most rebellious music of his youth – Rock and Roll.

Like so many young people back then, he loved the fresh direction and independent spirit of the rock beat.It was in 1958 that he became aware of Bobby Darin, first with “Splish Splash” and then “Queen of the Hop”. Later, he became a true admirer of Bobby’s big band hits, including “Beyond the Sea” and “Mack the Knife”. He incorporated some of Bobby’s rock tunes into his first performing band, in which Vincent played guitar and was the lead vocalist.

As his musical career progressed, Vincent’s preferences expanded to include classic rock and r&b music of the 60’s. In 1966, he joined a band called LTD as the lead vocalist and guitarist. After obtaining management, LTD was signed by CBS records in 1967.

During his musical journey, Vincent has made several appearances on television and radio, and has performed in concert and other live music venues throughout the tri-state area and Florida.

Vincent performs concerts with a 10 piece band, singing the standards from the Great American Song Book made famous by Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and Louis Prima.” He pays tribute to Bobby Darin with his “Vincent Roccaro Sings Bobby Darin” concerts with the big band. He has also performed with a female vocalist for many years in Vintage Bliss.

Currently, Vincent performs as a solo act at numerous local restaurants and music venues. His musical taste focuses on the Great American Song Book, the doo-wop era, and the classic rock of the 60’s and 70’s.
