A magical art journey in 4 parts
Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 10 am
DESCRIPTION

Embark on a magical art journey with Sandrine Gold.

In this 4-part class series, children ages 7 to 10 will paint, sculpt and craft their very own masterpieces with Port's own French native, Sandrine Gold (Language Anywhere, Inc.) Through expressive art activities and guided projects, each class will explore a French artist while taking you on a tour of Port Washington's landmarks with an artist's eye. This first series will focus on Landmark on Main Street's historic building and the Jeanne Rimsky Theater.

Sandrine believes in creating an enriching environment while learning through play. These virtual art classes will have a French touch, as children get to make papier mâché, pâte à sel and more. Students are encouraged to continue the creative process independently after each class. Art and creativity does not stop after one hour!

About Sandrine Gold

"Art is the cradle of my childhood," says Sandrine Gold. Sandrine is a French native who lives in Port Washington with her husband Ed and two sons, David and Jonathan. She is a board member of the New York Association for the Education of Young Children (L.I. chapter), and a member of both the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance. She had the privilege to study the Reggio Emilia approach in Italy, and holds a Child Development Associate certification. Sandrine received The Howard Batzar Memorial Award from the L.I. School for the Gifted in June 2020 for her French art class Paris in the Palm Of My Hand and French language classes. She continues to offer after school classes at the L.I. School for the Gifted, and taught at the Early Childhood Center from 2015 to 2020. Her company, Language Anywhere, Inc. began in 2001, offering French and Spanish tutoring as well as enrichment classes (Art and S.T.E.A.M.M classes). She holds a general baccalaureate diploma in languages and literature and has a background in international trade.

Sandrine attributes her artistic skills to her mother, who encouraged creative expression through painting, craft, sewing and use of recycled items. She believes learning is best done through all the senses, especially with artistic, hands-on activities; often using nature and recycled materials as inspiration. Sandrine is very community minded and finds time whenever possible to give back and volunteer.
