On Saturday evening, September 20th at 8pm at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater at Landmark on Main Street, Doreen Dixson Gamell and Stuart Lucks perform a joint program of solo piano and song spanning the Romantic piano works of Schumann and Chopin to the folk-inspired melodies of Ravel and songs of American masters Harold Arlen and Stephen Sondheim. From the dazzle of summer to the burnish of fall, from the scherzo, to the tango, to the ballad, to the blues, enjoy an evening of music to celebrate the last day of summer. Stand-up comedian Judy Gold: A benefit performance
Star of “25 Questions for a Jewish Mother” brings her talents to the Landmark

Emmy-Award winning actress and comedian Judy Gold frequently tours theaters and comedy clubs around the country. Twice-nominated for the American Comedy Award’s funniest female stand-up, she is also the star of the critically acclaimed, long-running Off Broadway hit show “25 Questions for a Jewish Mother,” which the New York Times calls “fiercely funny, honest and moving.” Don’t miss this evening of Gold’s electric comedy!
Gold’s performance will benefit Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth (LIGALY) and the Long Island GLBT Services Network.

The Yeomen of the Guard

For this season’s production, the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island is pleased to offer its version of one of Gilbert & Sullivan's most ambitious operas. The Yeomen of the Guard revolves around the impending execution of Colonel Fairfax. Phoebe's father, who has twice saved Fairfax's life, devises a plan to disguise him as a yeoman to help him escape. Meanwhile, the jester Jack Point arrives with his sweetheart Elsie, and both are caught up in the escape plans with results unlike any other Gilbert & Sullivan opera. The score, considered by many to be G&S’s best, includes such classic songs as “I Have a Song to Sing, O!,” “Strange Adventure,” “Tis Done I Am a Bride” and “A Man Who Would Woo a Fair Maid.” The fully-staged production includes a cast of over 25 of Long Island’s most talented singer-actors, and is accompanied by the critically-acclaimed Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Orchestra.
