Bass Rhythms with Morrie Louden Duo
Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 2 pm

In over 20 years of playing together, Morrie Louden, (bass & vocals) & Mike Eckroth, (piano) have developed an almost telepathic ability to improvise together. Morrie simultaneously sings, plays upright bass and plays claves on the bass. Enjoy this afternoon of interpretations of jazz & Latin standards, with songs like Take Five and Nature Boy and composers like Antonio Carlos Jobim and Victor Young.

Morrie Louden has toured with pop icons Engelbert Humperdinck, Barbra Streisand, The 5th Dimension and Paul Anka, to name just a few. These experiences led to performing with The New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall. In 2005, Morrie relocated to New York City and continued to perform throughout the United States and Europe with his band, The Morrie Louden Group. Since his relocation, he has played and/or recorded with Mike Stern, John Scofield, Adam Rogers, Howard Alden, Martin Taylor, Don Bradon and many other well-known jazz musicians. He released his original compositions on Time Piece in 2007.

Doors open at 1:30 pm for tea and refreshments. Showtime: 2 pm. No tickets or reservations required.

All tea refreshments provided thanks to SerendipiTEA.

Free admission to Afternoon TEA is made possible with support from AARP/LI, Ellen Brown & Bob Schwartz, Daniel Gale Sothebys/Port Washington, Amy & David Kornblau, Meyer Suozzi English & Klein P.C., NYCB Foundation and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock.
