Marcia Ball & the Subdudes "Boogie on the Bayou: A Mardi Gras Celebration
Friday, February 24, 2017 at 8 pm

Join us for an evening of true New Orleans music in celebration of Mardi Gras.

Over the course of 25 years and 10 albums, The Subdudes have quietly become one of America's national music treasures.

The New Orleans formed group is a living encapsulation of American music, a vibrant cauldron of sounds that stirs together meaty grooves and jazz dynamics, soulful R&B swagger, easy vocal harmonies, cheeky rock'n'roll attitude and folksy social consciousness - not to mention some of the sharpest musicianship and ensemble playing you'll ever hear.

The New York Times says, "Marcia Ball plays two-fisted New Orleans barrelhouse piano and sings in a husky, knowing voice about all the trouble men and women can get into on the way to a good time." Living Blues declares, "Her originals sound like timeless classics and southern soul masterpieces that no one else can imitate."

On The Tattooed Lady And The Alligator Man, the message is loud and clear: Marcia Ball has plenty of surprising and thought-provoking stories to tell, and the two-fisted piano prowess, sweet and soulful vocals and superlative songs with which to tell them.

We remember with affection the late, great Buckwheat Zydeco, who was originally scheduled to perform this evening.
