Alive Inside: Special Screening followed by a Conversation with:

  • Dan Cohen, MSW, Founder of Music & Memory
  • Maria Torroella Carney, MD, FACP, Chief, Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine North Shore- LIJ Health System Department of Medicine
  • Howard Guzik, MD, Senior Medical Director for Skilled Nursing Facility Services, North Shore-LIJ Health System

Alive Inside, is a moving documentary showing the power of music to awaken deeply locked memories for those suffering with Alzheimer's and dementia. As we follow one man's journey, we are inspired and educated about the amazing therapeutic benefits of music. Alive Inside investigates questions about how we care for our loved ones, how we want to age and how we as a society care for our elderly. This film questions when we stop being human, and what it takes to re-start a life that has faded away.

Free admission for this and all Conversation From Main Street programs is made possible by support from the Angela and Scott Jaggar Foundation with additional support from Kirby Veevers & Eric Rubenstein. Co-Presented by North Shore-LIJ Health System.
